Iran has a city in its middle known as Nesfe Jahan (half of the world). Every corner you go is full of different constructions every which has been a part of this city and has hidden a story at its heart. Every historical period has a print of specific architecture on the city based on its special characteristics.

The Armenian resided in Julfa and as soon as entered Isfahan they built some churches in the city by the permission of Shah Abbas. These churches were inspired by Iranian architecture and art and had differences with Armenian churches in appearance external embellishments.

          11. Johna Church

Johna church is the name of a church in Isfahan dates back to 1621in Safavid era.  Internal walls covered with plaster and in altar you can see some paintings. The church registered in Iranian national heritage list No. 9077 in 2002.

          12. Surp Hovannes Mgrditch

This construction belongs to 1621 and built in eastern – western direction. The materials used in it are mud and brick and internal walls covered with plaster. In eastern part, the altar flanked with two chambers can be seen. The part under the dome and altar embellished with paintings on Holly Bible but the external ones covered simply with clay. There is a small prayer hall next to the northern side which dates back to 1774.

           13. The Roman Catholic Church

The Roman Catholic Church which is also known as Holy Rosary Cathedral has been constructed in 1705 in the reign of Safavids in Iran. The primary construction of a church which called Saint Marry has been built by the Bishop of Armenian Catholics, Fugas Abarani, but after building the main church its name changed into Holly Dominicans or Holy Rosary Cathedral.

This church considered as the cathedral of Catholic Armenian. The painting on the subject of religion and the painting of Holly Dominicans and Franciscans are on the external walls.

The church registered in Iranian national heritage list No. 9020 in 2002.

           14. Saint Stephen Church

Saint Stephen Church has been built in 1614 measures 17×34m as the biggest church in Isfahan. In eastern part, the altar that flanked with two four-cornered chambers and a small curved dome can be seen. Brick and mud are the main materials used in this construction and the internal walls covered with plaster. There is a small number of paintings on the wall but stone crosses on the external and internal walls are seen. There is a building as a small prayer hall called Holly Marry in the southern yard.
