Enter Pahneh Bath

Spanning an area of 1,000 square meters, Pahneh Bathhouse has spaces like entrance vestibule (a place for waiting and getting permission of entrance) , dressing room, garmkhaneh (hot house), and the reservoirs of cold and hot water. Like all baths, Pahneh bath has two separated entrances for ladies and gentlemen. Entering via men’s door which has two platforms, we sink into tile works which have surrounded us and have shown the glory of Iranian art. An inscription can be observed on top of the door which consists of eight azure tiles with poets in “Nastaliq” white script.
On top of the inscription, “Lion and Sun” mark made of yellow tiles in a semi-circular shape gives a different view . the wooden door which is made of iron spikes has flanked with two pictures of a Qajar army armed with a sword which have been pictured by tile work.
Following we see one of the important spaces of Iranian architecture which has been also shown here.
When we go more forward, we will be in a space of 8 by 8 meters which has been roofed with wide and extent arched roof. Watching the waterscape among this space and the images of tile works on the walls bring a matchless calm for you.

Pahneh bath Museum, the host of multi-millennium history

  1. 4500 year-old skeleton

In a part of the main courtyard of the bath, the most prominent element of the museum attracts many visitors. A 4000-year skeleton of a pregnant woman which has been found in “Tepeh Hesar” in Damqan.  This skeleton has transferred completely intact to this museum after finding. Some objects were found alongside this skeleton which show the ceremony of burying in central part of Iran plateau in second millennium BC. For much more protection, the skeleton and all her properties are kept in a vitreous container.

  1. Pottery section

    Some ceramic objects have been shown in another part of the museum. These objects have been made of gray ceramic belonging to the second millennium BC and consist of bowls, a pitcher, and some ritual dishes which have been found in “Tepeh Hesar”. The other ceramics of the museum are the dishes and containers dating back to the first millennium BC which have been found in “Khatir kooh” area in Semnan.

  1. Islamic period

Some showcases were allocated to show the objects of Islamic era. Enameled dishes and the other dishes belonging to historical hills of Semnan province are shown in this showcases.

  1. Anthropology

Different objects on anthropology such as traditional jewelries of women from tribes in Semnan province and some traditional musical instruments like “Saz” and “Dohol” “Karna” at the final part of the museum which has been located in a vestibule. Illumination tools, prediction tools like geomancy and chance marbles and many kinds of smoking tools like pipes and tobacco bags are under visited in different parts of the museum.
